BARKER SUCCESS AT 2019 VICTORIAN MANUFACTURING HALL OF FAME

Among a highly competitive field of nominations, last night Barker Trailers were presented the Leader in Workforce Skills Development Award Winner at the Hall of Fame Gala Dinner.

The Victorian Manufacturing Hall of Fame recognises outstanding businesses and individuals in the manufacturing industry, those driving to keep the industry strong, while supporting hundreds and thousands of jobs.

Brothers Arthur and Ernie Barker started the business with a passion – to build great trailers, with great craftsmanship, for great customers, all underpinned by great people & skills – 45 years later, the passion remains.

Through the ups and downs of a challenging yet rewarding industry, Barker trailers continue to invest heavily in people, skills, innovation, and the passion for craftsmanship.

Focused investment in safety, skills, leadership, depth, and innovative partnerships has seen Barker not only survive, but proudly strengthen.

The business employs around 195 staff, including up to 20 apprentices at any one time, and produces 500 trailers each year using 100 percent Australian steel. Currently the company has a workforce which more than 25 percent of its staff have been with the business for more than 10 years.

Barker Trailers has seen great success over the years with the celebration of its 10,000th trailer last year and is incredibly proud to be recognised for such a prestigious award while celebrating its 45th year anniversary.
